Rhode Island’s Elite Physical Therapy Voted “Best Physical Therapy Practice” in the Nation

November 2009 – Little did long-time Rhode Islander, Michael Nula know that his childhood dream to become a Physical Therapist and own a private practice exceed his wildest expectations.

His Rhode Island based practice, Elite Physical Therapy, was recently awarded the 2009 “Best Physical Therapy Practice” in the nation by ADVANCE Magazine. ADVANCE Magazine is one of the country’s leading magazines in rehabilitation medicine. They will be the feature story and on the cover of the magazine December 2009.

ADVANCE Magazine profiled private physical therapy practices across the nation to designate one as the Private Practice of the Year; Elite Physical Therapy was recognized for performing exceptionally strong in all areas of assessment including service, patient care, company expansion, community presence, commitment to advanced learning & professional development, innovation, and facilities. The Best Physical Therapy Practice designation constitutes the winning practice to serve as the benchmark practice for which other practices should aim.

“This is an amazing accomplishment for our entire group”, said Nula. “There’s nothing more gratifying than getting recognized for what you love doing in life---helping people achieve their personal best. I am deeply grateful to share this phenomenal national recognition with such a talented, dedicated, and compassionate staff”, added Nula.

Elite Physical Therapy has rapidly become popular in their reputation for providing a unique treatment model that specializes in highly specialized “hands on”, one-on-one, Physical Therapist-only Physical Therapy. In seven short years from when Mr. Nula opened, Elite Physical Therapy has expanded office locations in Warwick, Providence, and Coventry, RI where they have helped over 5000 people get better and return to their normal lives.

“The judging panel was particularly impressed with Elite Physical Therapy’s overall customer service, practice growth, staff recruiting & training programs, technology innovation, generous community service, and overall development. They truly made their practice stand out from the other entrants”, stated Jonathan Bassett, Managing Editor of ADVANCE Magazine.

Elite Physical Therapy’s mission has always been to never be your typical therapy place. They focus on delivering exceptional high quality care and service to meet each patient’s individual needs, and promise never to waste any one’s time.

Elite Physical Therapy is the first privately owned Physical Therapy practice in Rhode Island to utilize electronic medical record documentation---a software they invented and developed---and will also be transitioning to a “paperless” practice after the New Year, meaning that they will have electronic patient files that will be more efficient and organized when working with a patient’s doctors, attorneys, case managers, etc.

Elite Physical Therapy is also the only private Physical Therapy practice in Rhode Island that hosts nationally recognized Physical Therapy seminars several times a year that provide advanced training and certification in evidence based treatment techniques for back & neck pain, sports injuries, knee & shoulder pain, arthritis, and ankle problems.

Elite Physical Therapy offers an array of specialized services to accommodate a variety of patient populations. Specialized care includes back & neck care, sports medicine and performance, arthritis care, children’s therapy, aquatic therapy, womens’ health, and industrial services.

Mr. Nula, a former Rhode Island High School science teacher at Saint Raphael Academy and Portsmouth Abbey, utilizes his past teaching experience regularly. Elite Physical Therapy is credentialed with over twenty Physical Therapy graduate schools nationwide, and enable soon-to-be Physical Therapists each year to complete internship training. They also support over twenty different local and national charitable organizations.

Mr. Nula has a Master of Science in Physical Therapy from the University of Rhode Island, and is completing his doctoral degree at Temple University in December 2009. He is on the Board of Directors for the Central Rhode Island Chamber of Commerce, and also a member of the Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapy Association, the American Physical Therapy Association, and the National Strength and Conditioning Association.

Mr. Nula currently resides with his wife and three daughters in East Greenwich, RI.
